Lost Shoe Forge Artist/Blacksmith: Jim Marsh

Jim Marsh is a former farm and ranch hand who spent close to 30 years caring for others livestock.  Due to health concerns, Jim now runs his own small, but productive blacksmith shop at his home in the Judith Mountains of Central Montana.  Jim mostly works alone, but his wife Carol lends a hand whenever neccesary.  Most of the work done at Lost Shoe Forge is hand forged using techniques hundreds of years old, however sometimes more modern fabrication methods are used.  Jim makes both decorative and useful items for the home, kitchen, fireplace, camping and re-enactment .  He has also done reproduction and repair for museums.  Jim has never had any formal training or lessons, he learned by "doing" and  swapping ideas and techniques with other blacksmiths.

Although the pictures are a good representation,  the work is hand done one at a time and the size and appearance may vary slightly.  Unless stated otherwise items are finished with Watco Danish oil.
